Clearview® Chlamydia is a rapid imunoassay that has been used for many years by avian practitioners for the direct detection of Chlamydial antigen. Developed for the human testing market as a screen for the presence of C. trachomatis, Clearview® Chlamydia has demonstrated exceptional reactivity to 15 Chlamydia serovars including C. psittaci. 

Specimens collected from the cloaca are added to a small extraction tube and placed into the specially designed Clearview® workstation. After a 10 minute incubation at 80^o C, several drops of the extraction liquid are added to the test cassette. If Chlamydial antigen is present, within 15 minutes a line will appear in both the control and result windows of the cassette. If no or very minute amounts of antigen are present, a line will only appear in the control window. Affected birds may shed Chlamydia intermittently; therefore, a patient exhibiting clinical signs of Chlamydiosis should be retested at a later time or by an alternative method.
